Critical Incident Intervention Program

Workplace trauma is any critical incident experienced by personnel, producing intense emotional reactions that have the potential to interfere with job functions. These are events with circumstances so unusual or so distressing as to produce immediate or delayed emotional reactions that surpass the normal coping mechanisms of employees. Examples of critical incidents include:

Human Performance Solutions (HPS) Critical Event Management Program will provide prompt assistance to the organization to come to grips with any type of workplace trauma or critical incident. Goals of the program are to:

Critical incident planning: consultation regarding organizational policies and procedures for handling violence or threats of violence in the workplace and for defining and responding to critical incidents. In the event that there is a critical incident or potentially critical incident, HPS provides immediate phone consultation to plan and initiate a response to the incident, including, if appropriate, deployment and supervision of an onsite Critical Incident Response counselor or team of counselors.

Critical event counseling and education: HPS provides on site critical event counseling and education services drawing upon our panel of counselors or other qualified and experienced professionals as appropriate to the incident. Services are provided on site in continued both group and individual sessions. HPS provides educational handouts to support and reinforce these services.
