Help-Line
A 24 hour, confidential, toll free telephone service for employees and family members provides consultation regarding work, family, or personal concerns. An EAP counselor assists the caller by resolving the problem over the phone, referring the caller to an EAP counselor for further assistance or referring to appropriate community resources.
Counseling Services
EAP counselors are licensed professionals who are experienced in dealing with a wide range of human problems. Depending upon the service level selected by the employer, they provide one or more office visits for assessment, referral and solution oriented counseling. The counselor works to motivate the employee to seek and accept help may assist in arranging needed services and may monitor the employee's progress. Referrals for treatment are coordinated with employee medical benefit coverage.
Community Resources Referrals
Human Performance Solutions maintains a comprehensive community service referral data base and referral relationships with commonly used public, nonprofit and private resources. Among these are services for chemical dependency treatment, child care, domestic violence assistance, eldercare, family therapy, financial and credit counseling, learning disabilities/educational therapy, legal problems, housing problems, marriage counseling, mediation, parenting, small business coaching, social services, and stress management.
Substance Abuse Professional Services
The EAP counselor will help to motivate an employee or dependent to seek treatment for a substance abuse problem, help to establish a treatment plan which may include identifying help for the abuser and for family members, monitoring progress and serving as liaison between employer, employee and treatment program to assist in arranging leave and reintegrating the employee into the work setting.
Preferred Provider Rates
Preferred rates for comprehensive, medically supervised, chemical dependency and mental health treatment services through the CalNet statewide network of facilities, preferred rates for personal, family or marriage counseling and psychotherapy services through the Human Performance Solutions panel of qualified professionals.
Supervisory Referral
Supervisors may consult with the EAP regarding their needs to understand how to better work and communicate with an employee. They may make an informal or formal referral to the EAP in order to assist an employee who is experiencing personal or family problems. In all cases confidentiality is fully respected, and the organization's personnel policies adhered to.
Employee Orientation and Information
The EAP will provide employees with information regarding the program and how to use it through a variety of channels, all of which will be agreed upon with the employer. These may include small group orientation sessions, email, brochures, posters, articles in company newsletters, new employee orientation materials, periodic notices and other reminders.
Management and Supervisor Orientation
Management orientation regarding EAP benefits for employees and training regarding use of the EAP as a resource for identifying, preventing and reducing workplace performance problems.
Management and Supervisory Training and Consultation
Training or consultation services can be provided on a group or individual basis regarding employee performance management, conflict resolution, communication skills, violence prevention, sexual harassment, substance abuse issues, working with difficult persons, or other topics as requested by the employer.
Employee Wellness and Education
Educational programs or "brown bag " lunch sessions for stress management, communication skills, teambuilding, wellness matters, personal financial management or other topics can be provided.
Critical Incident Consultation
Immediate consultation is available to management when a traumatic event which may have a significant negative impact on the workplace occurs. Appropriate interventions are planned and implemented.
Reports
Employers receive periodic reports regarding program utilization, types of issues addressed and employee satisfaction with program and services.
